Moving on Up

This is definitely a first for the Creech household. I don't know how I forgot to post this picture. EVERY yard needs one...it makes such a statement HAHAHAHA!!! It was delivered a few days after the job got started. I think the roof was partly off. I walked out on the porch as it was being "set up" and the project manager just happened to be walking towards the house. His words to me were, "It just keeps getting better, doesn't it?" Yep, I guess it does. :)

Well, a big step in the right direction with the house. The roof is up and is shingled. YEEHAW!! The room is humungous!! K has big plans of a bachelor pad....hmmm, not sure if I'll be able to go along with that. It definitely will be one of my favorite rooms, finished or not. Here's some more pictures of how it stands now.

Do you TRUSS me?

Lots going on over here at the Creech house. Yesterday, the trusses were delivered to our house. Talk about exciting to watch! I'm so glad I was here to see it all happen. A flat bed semi truck pulled up in front of our house and proceeded to BACK into our driveway. I thought for sure he had our mailbox, but he was very skillful & missed it. Then, with a big racket, his back wheels locked up but the truck was moving backwards. The back wheels actually slid forward to about mid way on the trailer bed. Holy cow!! He was able to move back some more. After untieing the trusses, the front of the truck bed moved upward. With a few forward jolts of the truck, the trusses slid easily to the ground. No human hands were used in getting the trusses off the truck. Really cool to watch. Definitely pays to have the right equipment when doing work like this! Here's some pictures of the process.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the framers should be here to put the trusses up on the house. From there, plywood will be added to the roof. It's all moving along so nicely. I feel so confident that we hired the right contractors for this job. I couldn't ask for better people to be working on our house.

Making progress

I have to say that my jaw dropped when I came home Sunday evening and saw how much progress has been made. There is actually a second story now, and even a floor up there. The project manager has said to me a couple times, "We don't play." and he is not lying one bit. As quick as it went down, it is going back up. Really amazing. I feel much more relieved that there is something on top of my computer room and garage.

Here are more pictures from the past couple of days

I still have to go pick out carpet for the computer room and a paint color for the garage. I'm not sure what to pick out. We decided to let them paint the garage on the inside while everything is out of there. It will make it so much easier. They had to make a bunch of cut outs in the sheetrock in there. After all the repair work, it will need a coat of paint. Well, to be honest, it needed a coat of paint before the remodel ;)

What's missing?

Things are moving right along over here. I am finding that my excitement is laced with a little bit of anxiety. I guess that is anxiety. There is something about seeing a portion of your house being torn to shreds that just isn't good on the heart. I find that I fare better when I'm not here to see and hear it all. I was gone all day Wednesday, and a real transformation took place..just in one day. In that one day, they had moved everything out of the garage and computer room. When the work day was done, the important furniture got put back in the garage, and the little stuff was left in the yard with a tarp on it. A pod was actually delivered today to put all the things in. On top of that, there was no roof, no ceiling, well, no anything. A lot of open air, fresh breezes, get a suntan without even going outdoors, the weather outside is the same as the weather inside, that sort of thing. I think they are getting to the point where they may start framing up the new section of the house. That will be even more exciting to see.

Here are some pictures from the past couple of days:

Kenneth is hoping to get back in to see the back doctor as soon as possible. He wants to have another round of steroid shots. I hope they will be able to see him tomorrow. He really is in a lot of pain. :(

Tune in tomorrow for more pictures...

Did your husband tell you the bad news?

Those are the words that were said by the project manager when I got home from the grocery store today. Hmmm....no, he didn't. I guess I should have seen it coming. I guess all projects have roadblocks, and we just hit one.

I have heard that our garage area was an after thought when building our house, and apparently that is true. When they took off the roof today, they realized what was there - the ceiling area of the garage & computer room - would not pass inspection for them to build on. So now, the ceiling has to come off. That means that ***everything*** has to come out of our garage & computer room, everything. They will remove the ceiling and rebuild it. The sheetrock and everything will have to be removed. Then they will rebuild on top of it. The builders are being awesome about the whole situation. They are getting a pod to be delivered to our house to store our things in. I'm not sure where we will put our computers. I guess we will move into the kitchen or maybe I'll move mine to my bedroom. K definitely has to have the internet for work.

So that was the bad news, but there is good news in this situation - YAY! Since all the furniture and equipment will be out of the computer room, I am going to get new carpet too! Yeehaw!! With everything out of the computer room, this will be the perfect time. It's such a hassle to get everything out, that I'd be crazy not to do it now. So there is my silver lining.

Here's some pictures from today. I took them around lunch time. Now the whole roof is gone.

And the beatin' & bangin' goes on...

Things are really moving along with house construction. There's been a lot of beating and banging. Today, I took Jenna to her dentist appointment. When I got home, there was a huge dumpster in the yard and a portion of the side was gone. It's all very exciting!

Here are today's pictures:

I've been told that in a couple days, the roof will be gone. Very exciting!!

Construction Begins

As I am typing this, construction, or should I say destruction, is happening at my house. There is a man on the side of the house banging on the bricks, and another man in the garage using a jack hammer. I can not even tell you how **noisy** it is in here right now. On the up side, the jack hammer is vibrating the floor, so my feet are getting a nice massage.

My back has got a kink in it so I’ll be taking it easy today. I don’t know what I did to it, but I’m ready for it to heal up.
