Today in class, we finished watching the LEGO story. You can find the video here if you'd like to watch it:
The Lego Story
Please be warned that about 12 minutes in, one of the characters on the ship says the "d" word. I'm not sure why LEGO included that in the video, but we carefully skipped over those seconds of the video in class.
Afterwards, we worked on building a LEGO dog. It is a tricky build, and we had a hard time finishing, but I think our work turned out great! You can find the directions to the LEGO dog here:

I will be out of town on October 16th (the next class). Angela Wright will be teaching class that day.
Here are some pictures from our class on October 2nd. I am so pleased with the creativity and enthusiasm from the children!

Root Words Class #3 - October 2, 2013
Today, after reviewing all of our prefixes and suffixes, we learned a new root word. This root word is: FORM
Form means "shape, appearance, or arrangement".
(Note: Pasted from <http://membean.com/wrotds/form-shape> This website has a lot of information on the root word "form". Take a peek if you have time!)
To make sure we were in verbal shape, we did the Root Squares sheet in class. Can you find more words than your child did using the root form with the other prefixes and suffixes?

For HOMEWORK, I asked the class to complete the back side of the Root Squares sheet, which can be found here.

Homework is due on October 16th. Homework is optional, but there are so many benefits to practicing at home.
Form means "shape, appearance, or arrangement".
The
root form, which means ‘shape,’ gives us
a number of words that are used every day, including reform, information, deformed, and form.
To ‘form," for instance, is simply ’to shape,’ whereas to reform is merely to ‘shape again.’ (Note: Pasted from <http://membean.com/wrotds/form-shape> This website has a lot of information on the root word "form". Take a peek if you have time!)
